Auction Rules & Regulations
Auction members must be at least 18 years of age and capable of executing a binding legal agreement.
Each Barter Auction member is entitled to one account per person; parties residing in the same household may hold one account each, and may not bid on one another's items. (i.e. Parties residing in the same household such as spouse/roommate/partner may each have an account, however they can not bid on items that the other places up for auction) The federal government has ruled that this act is illegal and constitutes fraud/price fixing and/or manipulation.)
All items placed up for barter must be tangible goods deliverable via USPS or other delivery service, OR be a service or item sent electronically that a person would normally have to purchase to obtain. This includes, but is not limited to, long distance calling time, money sent via PayPal (or similar), advertising and Internet services.
Full disclosure - seller shall provide an accurate and complete description of all goods placed up for auction, including any and all flaws or defects in order to alleviate any misunderstandings later.
Item description shall include which party is responsible for shipping charges and insurance if applicable; shipping charges shall be reasonable and customary. (i.e. $2.00 shipping charge is NOT reasonable and customary for a collectible quarter shipped state to state in the US - don't laugh, we've seen it!).
Items such as Free AOL & Internet CD's and other items that are readily available to the general public at large without charge are prohibited.
Pornographic materials are strictly prohibited.
Items that are illegal or illegal to ship across state lines are strictly prohibited (i.e. guns, ammunition, firecrackers, etc).
A user cannot post more than 5 of the same exact item within the same day, UNLESS the first five items received bids.
Recipes are prohibited, unless it is a collection of recipes in the form of a recipe book that will be shipped via USPS or another delivery service.
Members posting non-existent items up for barter with the intent to perpetrate fraud upon other members are subject to immediate cancellation of their account, and loss of all credits contained within.
Disputes between members that can not be resolved between the members themselves will be arbitrated by customer support. The decision of customer support is legal, binding, final and non-debatable.
Members shall not harass, sexually or otherwise, other members. Harassment is grounds for immediate closure of your account, and forfeiture of all credits contained within.
Abuse of the auction, its members and/or consistent failure to follow these rules is cause for termination of account and forfeiture of all credits contained within.
Seller shall endeavor to ship items within two weeks of bid closing; in the event that this is not possible, seller shall maintain contact and communication with buyer to advise of shipping status.
Posting bonus credits given for items that close with no bid are automatically deducted from your account. Seller may then re-post item to once again receive posting bonus credits.

Rules are subject to change and/or addition at any time as necessary in order to provide a safe and fun place to barter.
